Data Product Engineer

YipitData specializes in analyzing web data for institutional investors. Three years ago YipitData consisted of 20 people. Since then, we've grown to 80+, have tripled our revenue and expanded our client base to include the largest institutional investors in the world.

We believe that an engineer should own all parts of the product they build, so your job will encompass the entire product cycle:

  • You'll investigate and evaluate the potential for new products
  • You'll help write technical specifications for your product
  • You'll take primary ownership for the development and maintenance of your product
  • You'll launch your product and have it collect live data
  • You'll work with data analysts to refine the resulting data
  • You'll contribute to the internal libraries used across products

We work in small, integrated teams, so you'll need excellent communication skills and need to be incredibly adaptive to changing requirements. Accuracy matters immensely, so you ought have an eye for detail and be conscientious about assumptions in the code. Because our products depend heavily on external sources, you should be inquisitive and excited to dig deep into issues.

Although we program in Python, we don’t expect you to know it — as long as you’ve programmed in a modern programming language, we will teach you the specifics of our technology stack:

  • Cloud hosting in Amazon Web Services with CloudFormation and Chef
  • Databases like Redis, MySQL and Redshift
  • Continuous integration and deployment with GitHub, Travis CI and Buildbot

What’s more, during your first two weeks, we’ll also teach you all about our business, covering topics like:

  • Financial accounting
  • Sell-side research
  • Outsourcing

The Data Product Associate role is the key driver in our product development and product management. You’ll gain experience in:

  • Programming: Learn Python and SQL or sharpen your existing skills by contributing to all aspects of the development process, from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
  • Product Development: Build new products and learn how to create something out of nothing in a fast paced environment.
  • Data: Work with massive amounts of data on the performance of important companies, using proprietary methods. Your comfort with manipulating large data sets and deriving meaningful insights from them, without losing sight of the details, will be critical.
  • Sales: Work with our sales team and customers to drive engagement and revenue.

We are expanding our Equity Research team by hiring an Associate to analyze key business drivers and help develop fundamental research on top of our popular subscription data product. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1-4 years in buyside or sellside research or management consulting who wants to lead the data driven future of investment research.

In this role, you’ll gain experience in:

  • Data Driven Research: Generate valuable insights using our datasets
  • SQL: Learn to work with large alpha-producing datasets using advanced queries
  • Granular Performance Data: Build cohort, concentration, penetration and competitive analyses
  • New Product Development: Work closely with our data and engineering teams to help build new research products

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Meaningful experience in equity research or management consulting styled writing

We are hiring an Executive Assistant who will directly support our CEO, President and CTO and act as a gatekeeper, managing busy calendars and facilitating company-wide initiatives. In this role, you will have a huge impact on the experience of employees company wide!

As our Executive Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with the Founders of a growing start-up
  • Be the face and voice representing our company and top executives when coordinating with potential clients, partners, board of directors and a variety of external guests
  • Coordinate busy and fluid schedules, as well as travel for our CEO, President and CTO
  • Spearhead a variety of collaborative projects in Operations such as OKR planning, internal wiki maintenance, and facilitating and tracking sales contracts
  • Organize a variety of company events such as Board of Directors meetings, internal department meetings, weekly All-Hands meetings and Retrospectives

  • You have experience in contract sales and a track record of not only hitting goals but exceeding them
  • You have introduced new customers to a complex product (financial or other)

We're building out our presence in Asia and are looking to add a driven Sales Executive to our team as our second sales hire in Asia-Pacific. Working closely with our Regional Sales Director you will help us to grow our Asia-Pacific presence, develop our processes and create a sales machine in region as we increase our product portfolio. You'll be responsible for positioning YipitData's must-have products within the investment field and close on targeted opportunities. Sales Executives will communicate the value of our products and develop relationships with our new clients.

There is a large untapped client base in the region, making this an exciting opportunity to drive growth in the company.  This is a very large opportunity for the right person.
